Once we finally started to feel a bit more awake, after the decent sleep, we did a clothes wash – fitting these in wherever we can, and filling a wash load, only by washing nearly all of the clothes we have bought with us! We’re both very bored of the same 4 t-shirts and 3 shorts! Keeping looking at lovely clothes that we can’t buy because we don’t actually need them or want to carry them around!
We decided to go to Taronga Zoo, as so many people had raved about how good the zoo was, and the bonus was that it was just a 15 minute walk away from the house. After leaving the house, we realised how hot it was – over 30 degrees, and both our legs were in agony from walking around so much. Mand nearly had a paddy, being overtired, tripped over and cut her big toe – felt like a massive kid and drama queen, just burst out crying! Gav, with his sensitive nature, just cleaned the toe and carried on walking, so I asked, ‘Why didn’t you give me a hug?’ and he replied with ‘Sometimes you’ve just gotta grow some balls Mand’ – charming as ever, but made me laugh and we got to the Zoo, excited with our map to spot all of the animals.
The zoo was brilliant at ensuring you would see as many animals during the trip, with sleeping areas also viewable. The animals must be really happy there too, because we saw lots of very cute babies!
We saw many animals that we hadn’t had the chance to see before, like Red Pandas, a Snow Leopard, some massive Reptiles, and Mand’s favourite, the Platypus. The Platypus is a lot smaller than we thought it would be, so very cute swimming around.
The zoo had amazing views across the city throughout, acting as a backdrop which created some brilliant photos!
We realised we were getting too tired when we waited for 20 minutes for the bird show, that happened at 3pm, when we re-checked the time and it was in fact 10 past 4!! Lots of hills around the zoo in the heat, made it a tiring and draining day, but well worth it! In the evening, we went out for dinner with Ron, Lynda’s hubby (Lynda had a business meeting) where we went to the local Greek restaurant, we all thoroughly enjoyed the very tasty food!
