Brisbane to Noosa - 11th March

We were not hanging around long enough to unpack any of our belongings, so were out the hostel pretty early. We left our bags there while we headed back to the city. The weather was not great – dull clouds and lots of drizzle. We hung around the city centre for a while, spending some time in Queens Street Shopping Mall. We both bought a couple of bits but the bargain of the day was a pair of really nice flip-flops on sale in a shop called Target for $3 (£2) for Gav! He loves a bargain! To stop us spending more money we headed across the centre of the city to have a look at the iconic Story Bridge – kind of like the Sydney Bridge, but smaller and less impressive! It was cool to see though.
We grabbed our bags from the hostel and dragged them back to the bus depot where we caught a coach to Noosa, around 2 hours north of Brisbane.

In Noosa we were staying at a hostel which was slightly out of the town. We had arranged to meet Lee and Jessica there the following night. The hostel was called ‘Dolphin Beach House’ and was much nicer that the Brisbane hell-hole! It was our first hostel to have air conditioning! Pretty cool (no pun intended!). The hostel was really colourful, the bedding was block colours like a pink sheet, blue cover and orange pillowcase which was cool, there were pictures of the owner in India on the walls and hammocks and comfy outdoor seating in the large terrace.

There was a kitchen and bathroom for 2 rooms, which was nice as we were used to sharing with a lot more people than this. Everyone made their pasta or noodles one by one, taking it in turns to ‘rinse’ the 1 pan... and then there’s always one who comes in cooking steak, chips and veg, so made the whole kitchen smell delicious! We put the Simpsons on the telly and before we knew it we were laughing along with a group of people from all over Europe. By the time we had eaten and chilled watching telly (a rare occasion out here!) we were both shattered so headed to our chilly air conditioned room.
